CLASSES AT THE LITTLE YELLOW HOUSE IN DUNMORE Located on Rt 28, 1/4 mile south of the Rt 28 / Rt 92 intersection in Dunmore WV. Situated across from the Baxter Presbyterian Church. WE HAVE CONTINUING DAY AND EVENING POTTERY WORKSHOPS CONTACT CYNTHIA GURRERI 304-456-4600 FOR MORE INFORMATION AND TO SET UP A CLASS SLAB PLATTER CLASS TAUGHT BY CYNTHIA GURRERI Wednesdays 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and Saturdays at 3:00. Using large rolled out peices of clay, the class will drape, slump and hump a platter to suite their needs. Each platter is $30.00, including supplies. One session for making the platter and one session for glazing the bisqued platter. These sessions are generally scheduled at two week intervals. IMPRESSIONISTIC LANDSCAPE OIL PAINTING WITH CYNTHIA GURRERI Tuesday afternoons 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This class will explore color and impressionist techniques apparent in Ms Gurreri's landscapes and seascapes. Students will bring in favorite landscape or seascape photos to use as inspiration. Class members can use PCAC supplies for a nominal donation based on the size of the canvas used, or bring their own supplies. Class will be $10.00 with their own supplies or $20.00 with PCAC supplies. MAJOLICA PAINTING CLASS Saturdays at 10:00 am. This is a class of surface decoration. There is a variety of bisque ware that students may choose from. The bisque ware is covered with a smooth white glaze and then over painted in bright colored overglazes in the styles of Italy. This class price will be based on the price of the bisque ware. Generally in the range of a $15.00 per peice of bisque ware, class, glaze and firing. BISQUE DECORATING CLASS Saturdays at 1:00 pm. Here's a chance to just have fun with glazing your choice of bisque ware. PCAC has a variety of glazes to try on various types of bisque ware, including mugs, plates, mixing bowls, boxes, spoon rests, vases and lamps. These classes run continuously and are priced by the bisque ware items. Starting at $10.00 and going up to $75.00 for lamps. INTERMEDIATE POTTERY WORKSHOPS Monday and Tuesday Evenings, 6:oo pm to 9:00 pm. Monday we will concentrate on larger objects thrown on the wheel, and the equiptment and techniques used to make large objects by measuring and combining smaller sized pots. Tuesday is Adventure in Ceramics. The focus will be on surface decorations and bisque ware. We will also do some hand building projects. Smoke firings willbe included with the class in November. This is a primative firing technique that results in a soft often blackened surface and is the same as pit firing and sawdust firing. Students will also learn about burnishing and the techniques the Pueblo potters use to finish their pots. Cost is $120.00 for a six week course, $20.00 per session, which includes instruction, 25 pounds of clay, glazes and firing. RAKU FIRING The first is scheduled for May. GRANDCHILDRENS CLASS Need an activity to do with your grandchildren? Call Cynthia at the LYH for information. Generally the first session includes three projects and the second session is used for glazing the child's finished pieces. (young children's pieces can be glazed by grandparent or instructor) Choose from solar lighted toad houses and toad stools, textured pencil holders,reed diffuser bottles, monster banks, wind chimes or medalions. Every effort is made to bisque the student's work in a timely manner, that allows the children to return during their visit to glaze their projects. Cost is $27.50 per child, and gives a variety of projects that can be enjoyed by grandparent and child alike. SOLAR LIGHTED TOAD HOUSES and GARDEN TOADSTOOLS Workshops are scheduled for Thursday afternoons on the back porch. These workshops are in two parts. The first Thursday is for forming the toad house. The second Thursday is for glazing. Cost is $22.00 per house. GIANT CONCRETE LEAF BIRDBATHS Wednesdays on the back porch. Cost is $20.00 per bird bath. You bring the leaf and we we will help you make a bird bath from it. We also have CLIP CASTING on the back porch during all classes. LEAF PLATTER Leaf platter workshops are ongoing on Tuesdays. The workshops will be 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm or till everyone had a iece made. The following Tuesday is for glazing and painting the bisque leaf. Cost is $20.00 per session, including supplies. HYPERTUFA PLANTERS The workshops will be on Tuesdays at 11:00 am till 1:00 pm. Hyperfufa is excellent for garden troughs andplanters. It is lighter and more porus than concrete. These planters can be used in the garden year round. Cost is $15.00 per planter. FRIDAY NIGHT SCENTS Friday evenings, from 6:00 pm till 9:00 pm, we will explore different methods of harvesting and preserving natural scents and developing combinations to use in soaps, fizzies, salt and sugar scrubs, simple decoctions, infusions and tisanes. Cost is $10.00 per class. (no charge for enjoying the smells!) TILE MAKING CLASS Tile making classes will be offered for individuals interested in exploring this area of clay. The student will work on developing a tile they can use as a master for a counter top or back splash. Or they may develope a tile for use as a trivit. Cost is a donation of $100.00 for five sessions and includes all the supplies needed. CLAY PUZZELING This class involves the use of slip casting molds. The student will use clay in coils or balls to fill in the mold, the same as using a slump or hump mold. These peices will then be bisque fired and raku fired. Cost is a donation of $75.00 for three sessions and includes all the supplies needed. NEW FOR 2010 WORKSHOPS WITH KAY GILLISPIE Contact Kay 304-456-4116 to schedule classes in wheel throwing, clay, watercolors and oil painting techniques. FAIRY HOUSES AND HUNTER CAMPS Made from cardboard and found objects. Cost is $10.00 per student. PORCELAIN PAPER CLAY These will be large objects. Cost is $20.00. SAWDUST FIRING Tuesday evenings, in conjunction with the Tesday night classes. Bring your own bananna peels and coffee grounds. NOTE: PLEASE CALL AHEAD TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES.
