Art Shows
This is a portion of the art display presented at the "open house" at the Pocahontas Center Nursing Home.
This is a portion of the Childrens' art display at the Pocahontas Pioneer Days Art Show last July, 2007
The Pocahontas County Arts Council, PCAC, has sponsored regular Art Shows in our county. The main Art Show is during the Pioneer Days, in Marlinton, WV which is the full week after the 4th of July. We advertise in the Pocahontas Times near the end of June for the days and hours we are available to receive art objects at the McClintic Library.
Non-professional adults have 8 categories and artists can submit as many as three items in each category. Cash prizes and ribbions are offered for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each category along with a Peoples' Choice and Best of Show award. Children through 12th grade may participate and are displayed by grade level with cash awards and ribbons for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd, for each grade level plus the two overall awards.
Qualified Judges come from out of town to judge each piece of art work a week before the show and the prizes are awarded on the last Saturday of Pioneers Days. Hope you can attend and even submit some art work.
